Hello good evening and welcome,  to quote a n other
Insurence will be a morecostley affair with the steamer,
MPBA covers all from fastest to scale including steam [pressure certificated of course]

That comes in about ?24 quid a year,  going sailing solo and cheaper? I just don't know of any

Junk is something you've kept for years and throw away three

Can I suggest Jo that rather than paying out a large premium to cover a claim that is most unlikely to occour you would be better to join a club who will have a group insurance and if it is a model engineering club they will have facillites for testing your boiler free of charge. I sense that you had had no previous experience of steam models and other members will always help with any problems that you may encounter. You may not be aware that there are clubs all over the UK and I am sure there is one covering Mid Wales. You may have to travel some didtance for meetings  but you will not be expected to attend all of them and many members never go to any. The Chedder Model Club may well suit you as they are more or less nation wide and rather concentrate on small scale model steam. They do I believe have an annual open day in Somerset at the site of the old works and they do have testing facillites and a group insurance I believe.

Best of luck anyway, and do enjoy your new model.
