I'm also pleased to sign up.

In the Derby area the men over 60 have just had  blanket coverage to send stool samples to the University of Nottingham for testing for bowel cancer.

The ladies are going to be next as the view is taken here that pre-cancer screening is much better than treatment after it has possibly been contracted.

The test kit consists of a card with provision for three samples and six spatulas.  This is so that two samples can be taken from each visit to the toilet on three occasions.  It's a bit fiddly but well worth the effort.

Glad to sign this petition, the fact is it should be done at a younger age.

I am screened and 'inspected' every five years - uncomfortable to the point of painful. this is because my older sister was diagnosed with bowel cancer at age 34 - despite radiation and chemo, never made 40.  If you ever get problems 'down below' or suffer dramatic weight fluctuation then get it checked.

Is there not a section to enter for expats?

If not I will get onto the wife and see if she can sort it.

I have signed willingly

My mother had bowel cancer in her fifties and very nearly died from it as getting a diagnosis was nearly impossible at the time. The hospital kept sending her home without proper examination stating it was just a nervous tummy. Fortunately for her she was taken to another hospital, in agony, and they operated immediately. The surgeon stated that a couple of hours later it would have been too late.
Unfortunately she died ten years later from peritonitis due to a blood clot on the bowel scar tissue because the same hospital that couldn't diagnose the initial problem again couldn't find anything wrong.

As you can imagine I am not too overjoyed at the prospect that the same hospital is dealing with my Leukaemia! :-\

I can understand your concerns regarding your own hospital and treatments, Here we have a hospital called James Padget but it is locally referred to as James Bidget (the name sums up the reasons)
My Mother in Law passed away through Bowel cancer some 10 years ago and now my wife has had checks (finally) with some results that we (SHE) should be OK.
We have tried for years to get my wife screened as there is history of the disease within her family but with her not being old enough the system just seems to ignore her.

I wish you well and a full recovery from your problems and thank you for your time on this petition.
