When soldering a lubricator on a Cheddar boiler do i need to use silver solder or would that be overkill any info would be good thank you.

Always best to use silver solder for all live steam connections. Did you say you were soldering the lubricator straight on to the boller? you would be better using a screwed union, these are soldered to the lubricator and pipework coming from your stop valve.
