Well it would seem that a Few 4/5 Dclass OMRA boats will be there over the weekend. D class being the 26cc petrol engine type boats. There will also be some AA class boats + one or two other class boats. I am going to bring my Hydro along to give it full steam ahead, as I can't leave it at flat out here in Stevenage cause or lake is to small. It should be fun ????  I know Andy is thinking of bringing his Milty boat if he gets it fixed in time.

I have been talking to Stav and he has told me ALL IC boats will be run on the big lake ,fast or slow types. So if you are going to bring a IC boat along you are very welcome. However on a safety point. It must have a FAIL SAFE unit fitted and it will be checked out by ME before you will be aloud on the water. The Boat will have to meet basic OMRA standards IE Fail safes, Strong working linkages to rudders, buoyancy aids. We are not worrying to much about noise but we want to use the Lake next year and can't afford to upset the park staff and locals. Most RTR boats are nosey but as long as it is safe to run you won't be stoped because of the noise.
Any novice drivers are welcome but they will have to have an experienced driver alongside them just in case. NO Contact with the rescue boat at all. IF you break it you will have to pay for its repair. Say no more.

I am sorry if it sound like we are comming down hard on what is a run weekend but my first aim is for you to enjoy your boating and keeping it all SAFE for the public and other boaters and boats.

I'm selling a training plane to try and get 2 multi's running for this, a 3.5cc and a 15cc, and I'll bring the 10cc along aswell...

Further to Bill's post, safety rules must be observed at all times, everyone knows these things can cause untold damage. Bill is running the IC demo's, and I will be his right hand man. Anything Bill says will be absolutely final.

As you all probably know by now, I'm now a fully payed up member to the 'Go Fast, Turn Left' side of things. For Llanberis I'm hoping to get this old shed running ;)

CMB 90 power, back from the times of the old little gem that was the CMB Slide Carb.

Next year I'm hoping to have a 35cc Multi running for you all to gawp at O0

Don't forget we will be doing a night sale (on the small lagoon) so fit lights chaps.

They will be mains available for battery charging (don't forget to put your name on your chargers and batteries)

And of course the Saturday night BBQ   :-)) :-)) :-))

Just got back from Weymouth model boat show & OMRA racing.
As long as I can get my Makara working ( RCMK source coil US) I will be there. There is a Few more OMRA members talking about comming along so we should be able to run a demo OMRA race during Saturday and maybe before I have to leave for home on Sunday lunch time.
Don't let us put any other petrol RC boaters that are not OMRA members be put off. We hope to see lots more IC boats on the water this year. AS I posted before you will have to meet basic safety items like fail safes fitted and. So Come on and give your IC boats a blow out.
If you are bringing a IC boat could you please let me know by pm.

OK you lot time is getting near shorting yourself out for one of the best weekends that there is to be had model boating. I have got a Few more OMRA people to join in this year. IS IT ONLY going to be a OMRA meeting then????????
Get your name down here so Phil & Stav know how many beers they have to get in for the weekend. At this rate there will not be any time for boating only drinking if knowone else turns up.

Looks like it's going to be about equal this year :-))

Might not have a multi running, still unable to get shafts and parts. The orange one might be running but would most likely be untested by then {:-{

Are we sure that this event is still happening?

I had a call from Stavros a couple of weeks ago to tell me that there was a problem with blue algae at Llanberis and he wasn't sure if the weekend would go ahead or not?

He hasn't called be back with any further information yet.

My mum was telling me last evening that they have a similar blue algae problem at (if I remember correctly) The Botanic Gardens in Southport?  Apparently the Council have prohibited all access to the water at the gardens as blue algae is supposed to be toxic?

Does anybody have any better information on this?

If the algae clears up, can't there still be a 'sail in' / 'club open weekend' event?
    ...... We could use rubber gloves while boating.......

  Phil, if you're still going up to Llanberis this weekend, we look forward to your update.

(  I've already book a place to stay in Wales, so I'm going anyway! )

Right chaps, a cunning plan is being hatched (Anglo / Welsh phone lines been tied up for hours). We are looking at a couple of alternative venues, which we are going to recce over the weekend. Holyhead sadly is not suitable, but my esteem colleague has thrown a couple of potentially viable waters into the frame,( subject to some sort of permission) so armed with wellie boots, camera and Kendal mint cake I shall proceed to North Wales where we will endeavor to find us some were to play boats and camp
( no Ooh-arh jokes please)
Watch this space, will keep you updated

Nature won't stop us !!!! :-)) :-))

Its got to be a boating weekend, cos there is no way I'm going rock climbing  {:-{

Phil,

Have you looked into Lake Maelog near Rhosneigr on Anglesey.  From what I can recall it would seem a good size, and it is used for jet-ski / wind surfing so IC shouldn't be a problem.  There's a campsite across the road from it, and it's also next to a farm who might let you camp on their land if asked.  There's a hotel / pub about 100yds away too.

The latest news is (well an official statement will be forthcoming later from Stavros via Martin) The lake has been cleared for boating use, and the event is on.

REALLY, we are good to go.

Start Packing
