LIFEBOAT SLIPWAY
« on: October 14, 2008, 09:07:41 pm »

Hi all...........my turn to ask for some advice please.
I've been asked by the hon sec of Fleetwood Lifeboat station if I can build a 1:12 scale model of Fleetwoods old slipway for display with their model of Anne Lettitia Russell at next years pagentry to mark the station's 150 aniversary of founding.
Naturally I said yes without thinking, as my life was saved by one of the crewmen way back in 1959,so some little way of payback.
However as the slip was partially washed away and the rest demolished in 1975 my memory fades somewhat.
Were all slipways the same or were they built individually as per station.
Any suggestions, photos etc would be very welcome, and if anyone wishes to contact the Fleetwood Lifeboat station about their celebrations next year they would be most welcome............I think from what I've heard, they are putting on a special model display to mark the occasion.
Cheers for any help. neil. :-))

sorry I haven't replied , charlie, but have litteraly just picked up on your post.
Can I just say thanks to you all for replying, and for your help.
enclosed are some photos as she was just prior to demolition in 1977.
It was enjoyable building as something "totally different".
Hope you like it.
Sat on the slipway is an unmade Anne Letitia Russell which was on station from 1939 to 1975/6

Thanks for your comments Mick.
Below is the finished article in position at Fleetwood Lifeboat House, with a model of Fleetwood's 41' Watson " RNLB Anne Letitia Russell", made by a friend, Micky Banks.
I only wished they'd had room to let me build a full boathouse with tilting table.
Oh Well, perhaps another time.
