Completed the procedure a few months back. Took the online Ripmax Form route, nominating my local model shop - (which wasn't the place I purchased the set from.) Took a few weeks but otherwise went smoothly.

What about 2nd hand tx ? All deals off or are Futaba going to let "1st generation", ie faulty sets  just keep circulating and gain a bad reputation ?  {:-{

HI arrow,
If your set has 2 serial No's on the back one being a ripmax
number then take it to the local model shop and they will help you
return it. I was told as long as it has the ripmax serial No it can be changed :-))

For a minute there I thought 'exchange programme' was an easy means to hacking the program inside the chip.
What a berk.

Thanks Ginge , I`ll try that.   :-))  Portside, one point that I`m aware of is that you must not switch on then off again within a very short time (5 secs ? ) say to check battery . Seems it will revert to a factory setting and lose the match peculiar to your Rx/Tx pairing.   Other issues , only those in the trade will know and I suspect wont tell us here.  The exchange seems a very good move on behalf of Futaba certainly restored my faith in the marque.  My T6ex has preformed well in boat and aircraft for over 18 months without a hiccup but I not going to chance finding the mystery fault(s) in the air or 300yards from the shore. >:-o

Thank's arrow , i will bear that in mind  .hopefully one would notice if the reciever was not pared with the tx when switched on as the model would not respond .

Portside
I believe the main problem is the chip settings. When you pair the Tx and Rx, the Tx remembers the serial No of the Rx
and it stays in the Tx memory but some "idiot" set the chips on a few so that the Serial No's were all the same.
worst case 2 people at the pond and the Tx's and Rx's think they are paired with each other...........DISASTER.

Colin

Please note this is a very simplified explanation

theres the first problem. You don't the model shops were originaly given a way to test them but futaaba took the desicion to just change them all.
so all you have to do is take it to your local modelshop (preferably where you bought it) and they will change it over :-))

If it is a 'good' set - there will be a small circular sticker with a 'I' on it, alongside the serial number sticker(s) on the bottom of the Tx

And a quick check of my tx revealed the seriel # 08--- and an "I" sticker as well .
Me a happy bunny , just a bit cold running down to shed in a T shirt .
