How strange...................no mention of the Weymouth show and I'm about to make my annual pilgrimage from up North!!

I really love this show and the location really makes it more of a holiday AND IT'S FREE I usually make a week of it.
I stay on a camp site outside Weymouth and travel in on the train, but if I thought my models were worth putting on show I'd register and stay on the council run site, at £7:50 a night it's half what I'm paying.
Having the Radipole lake on hand also makes it for me, temporary ponds are ok where space is limited and it's nice to see models up close, but it's nice to see model boats used as they are intended to be used and given their reins when on open water

I will be there all weekend.
OMRA will be holding there races at the end of the Pier on Sat & Sunday. Z class on Sat & AA-D on Sunday. There as many as 16 + D class petrol boats entered so the racing will be busy and fast. Here is a YOUTUBE link to my short race last year. Mines the Red Boat. All that way and I didn't even get 1 lap that counted. Thats racing.
See you there. :-)) :-)) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQsql3wOIP0 Enjoy!!!

I'm sure there will be many more than just the three of us there, fellas! Mike Knight is the registrations officer for Weymouth, and a few weeks ago at a meeting with the council staff and SWAMBC people, he stated that registrations are slightly down on last year, but there's always a surge as the date gets nearer. Any Mayhemmers who are there, come and say 'Hello', I will be at the control desk at the pool in front of the Pavilion all weekend. At least I'd better be, as I'm OOD for that area! :-))

I think that fewer people (including traders) may be prepared to travel down to Weymouth for this years event, given the state of the economy and the high cost of travel and accommodation?  UK hotels are having a field day at the moment as fewer people are going abroad for holidays.

The trade is finding that whilst visitor gate numbers at model boat shows are sometimes up on previous years, turnover is down. Lots of people looking, few buying...

Weymouth is a great show though, and we wish it every success.

Hi Folks,

Thinking of traveling up from Cornwall, anyone know which traders will be there?

Need to travel these days as there is no longer any model shops in West Cornwall

Thanks guys.

Mark also telephoned me to say he was going and has a stand there for the weekend. He will be taking the new Smoke machines for demonstration.

I will try and get down there, as I've never seen the show and it sounds good.

Ken, you MUST get down to this one - its the highlight of the year!
OK, the Warwick show is bigger but at Weymouth you get to see ALL the different groups having a whale of a time.
The scale and FE lads are on Radipole Lake (about half a mile from the pier) then there are more scale on the temporary pool just in front of the Pavilion plus the show and loads of boats inside, whilst on Sat afternoon and all day Sunday, us OMRA lunatics are having a Championship event in the sea just to the side of the pier.
Oh - and the weather is ALWAYS perfect  :-)) :-))

I think you guys need to tell new visitors what else in boating is there, in the harbour its full of lovely boats from sea fishing types to cruisers and sailing ships of all sizes you can walk along the quay side right next to them. Oh! and there's the lifeboat http://www.weymouth.lifeboatstation.org.uk/ as well. Then take a drive onto Portland island where the Olympics is going to take place there is a very nice pilot boat and other Navy ships to see.

Hi, as per usual Del , Dom, and me will be at weymouth all weekend , we arrive at the campsite on Friday until Monday.

If anyone has not been there before its a great show with three venues
off shore racing from the pier-great for spectators, just along from that the pavilion which houses the static displays and traders outside of the pavilion is a Small pool with boats on it all day-(we will be at this pool this year) then theres Radipole lake about half a mile along the harbour( they run a mini bus service to and from here)at Radipole is were the fast eclectic racing takes place and general sailing of all types of boats as wel as the grand finallie by the Portsmouth display team.

There is commentary at all three venues all day and a night sail on Sat night at the Pavilion, Also cheap tickets for the pavilion theatre for those who booked Early.
As well as all this Weymouth is a great holiday destination think this year they are having the seafood festival again along the harbour -got to have the paella I saw there last year!-better than that the chippy does deep fried mars-bars ..fantastic!!

See you there , Paul.
