Dear Tomo,
I think your Topic might possibly be better under a different Heading? Tech. or similar? However...
I would be careful with using any chemicals to clean models, since it might upset paint or decals, etc.. If the model is lacquered then there 'probably' wouldn't be much of a problem, but 'treatments' on unlacquered paintwork might have undesired affects?! - don't forget vinegar is an acid however much diluted - and it might like cotton and similar things!
If 'heavy' dust must be removed, then compressed air is obviously best (however applied - but not 'too much' pressure of course!), but I find round type fine haired dusting brushes best with a bit of puffing at the same time - usually four inch handles with 2 inches of bristles (the type, or one of the types, used for finger print dusting). Ok, so it takes a bit of time and care, but it get's the job done.
At the end of the day the best solution is to keep the model in a proper case, or, 'sheeted' over with an opened up thin white type bin bag (all except one of my vessels is 'sheeted' over... and one is in a case). With all except the one, just a bit of huffing and puffing get's the fine stuff off with no problem!
Regards, Bernard
