Couldn't agree more!!! Bet if you were to convert it to B+W in photoshop and age it a little, I reckon it may look EVEN more realistic  ;)

You mean like this?..  O0

How about sepia tone?

I think one good trick with model shots is to choose realistic angles.
Either low down to the water, a normal eye view of scale 5 foot off the ground/quayside.
Or from a high angle making it appear you are looking down from a bridge or headland.

Vivitar do a cheap digital cameral with waterproof case. about £49 from Argos. That lets you get down to the waterline with impunity.

I think this one works very well as a period shot.

Jenno.....I fully take on board the comment from TT re the importance of the approach angle...& you have presented this brilliantly  :-))

Normally  %) :} I would had thougt that B&W would portray a more realistic older image ...however in this case ...I prefer the coloured image   ....life like....... O0 Derek

A couple of U-boat shots first in a Norwegian Fjord, then being captured, next returning from patrol and finally a shot through the nose of a Heinkel as it dives on HMS Cossack.

One of the amazing details depicted is the aluminium plate distortion between the vertical & horizontal runners toward the top of the outboard vertical STDB aft hanger area .......anyone who has ever seen an Oliver Perry FFG hull structure I am sure will know what I mean     O0 Derek

This particular models  also defies description as to the skill some modelers possess .
This is a model of a Russian Destroyer  the Admiral Chabanenko   built by Richard Myoka  . Its almost impossible to tell the difference between the model and the real thing?

Is this the real one or the other two?

Phil

Super model (I hope I can do as well), very realistic but is it accurate?

Mike

Nice picture - tell me more. When and where was it taken ?

I understood that the "Vital Spark" as seen in the BBC TV series with Greogor Fisher, had been renamed the Maggie and owned by the same people who have the Artctic Penguin in Tarbert.

Hi Phil

I took the picture myself at Crinan boatyard on 10th August this year. My understanding is that "Auld Reekie" was re-named "Vital Spark" for the Para Handy series - hence my posting the picture (trying to be funny!). Some years ago we had a holiday on the VIC32 owned by Nick Walker. He said that after the first Para Handy series, the skipper (presumably owner) of the puffer had made enough money to retire and left it to rot! Consequently, for the next series the BBC had to find another puffer - so your information is probably correct.

Perhaps others on the forum can shed further light on the matter.

Regards,
            Mike
