Futaba 6EXP FASST channels Transmitter
« on: October 31, 2009, 06:17:27 pm »

hi,
Anyone know why the green LED light on the back of my transmitter has suddenly stopped working? I used the transmitter a week ago and it linked with the receiver in my model no problem, now it will not link with any of my models. I presume this is because the green LED is not coming on therefore no signal from the tranny is being sent to the receiver?

Is the tranny cooked?

Kind regards

it sounds like it has lost bind so it could be the receiver or the TX are the receiver batteries OK try a different receiver pack.

Hi Peter,
The batteries for both the Tranny and the receiver are fully charged, what appears to be wrong is that the green light on the back of the tranny is not lighting up so no link is being made between the tranny and the receiver. I have three receivers and the tranny will not link to any of them.

I'm not familiar with Futaba gear but it doesn't sound good.    Have you tried removing the TX battery and leaving it unpowered for a few minutes?   If  it's some sort of logic lock-up that might cure it.   Another thought, does everything else look normal?   Normal indications on any display etc?   Also ther's not a switch stuck in the wrong mode or anything like that is there?   If not then I'd be looking to your dealer to sort it if it's still under guarantee.

Generally speaking I'd have thought r/c transmitters were fairly robust unless abused.

Thanks for the replies.

1, Not under warranty now!

2, Everything seems to work normally when powered up except it will not bind with any of my receivers.

3, it has been switched off for many hours so I don't think it is a logic lock up.

4, the tranny has never been abused I take care of all my equipment.

5, tranny worked fine last week as I worked on two of my models with no problem trouble started yesterday for no apparent reason. the only thing I can see wrong is that the green and red lights on the back of the tranny do not light up at all.

Kind regards

Hi Ray

I wasn't suggesting that you abuse your kit, just commenting that modern gear is faifly tough!   The only other thing I'd follow up is your comment that the TX has been switched off for many hours.   I was specifically suggesting taking the battery out.  Sometimes switching off doesn't actually disconnect everything from the battery.   Mobile 'phones are a classic example of this.

Good luck

Hi Guy,
I never thought for an instant you meant that my gear was abused :-))

The tranny battery is always taken out when the tranny is not in use. Simple reason I take it out to avoid any damage by possible battery leakage.

As I have said the only thing I can find wrong is that the red and green lights don't light up, I have tried relinking the tranny with two of my receivers but no joy. I was hoping that someone on here might no the solution or what the problem is. I fear it maybe a dead tranny!!!

Sorry I can't be more help Ray.   As I said, I don't have practical experience of Futaba gear so was just thinking of possibilities which might apply to any manufacturer.

I think you need a specialist to look at it.   Presumably the Futaba importer/dealer would charge more than the TX is worth.

Like me Guy no expertise with these things just use them with little understanding of how they work!

I think with the help on here I have exhausted most possibilities so it looks like a new tranny as like you I fear the cost of repair will out strip the cost of a new one. Thanks for your help.
