What motors are people using ?
« on: December 13, 2009, 12:22:21 pm »

Changed the motor in my Springer to a Graupner Speed 720BB Torque.

Wow what a difference - ran this morning for an hour non stop, and the motor was barely lukewarm - checked the voltage on the two 12v batteries and they had read 12.4v each at the start of the session, at the end they read 12.37v.

Superb.

they are a really good motor and the nice thing is they can be replaced at most model shops should you have a catastrophe with one and you know it will be business as usual.

in the police springer i use a rs750sh and run it on 2x 4.5ah 6v lead acid batteries
run times are good 45mins each battery.
has plenty of pushing power.

in the small springer i use a brushless motor + 2 x 2250mah 7.4v lipo.i get around 2 hours per pack.
gonna convert police springer to brushless also.

hi bluewotsit.
i was looking for ideas on a springer build, when i went to the model shop  a police  officer was there buying a boat.
it also has flashing lights and police siren,
both work from tx.i bought a old police car from the car boot sale for £1 and used it as a donor.

i also have for the little springer a soundcard that sings,  don't rock the boat.

thanks jabba.

There are some motors posted on http://rcgearing.com. I would recommend the vac-u-tug motors.

That's odd.
Would the quoted 12.4v be a typo for 14.2v, maybe?

I have a MEGAX 500 12V engine.
Will this be allright with a 40mm prop?

Should I run it on 12V or better on 6V for a normal springer?
For as far as I can see it is a normal Mabuchi 540.

Greets,

Thinking of powering my new build with these, already have them in an RAF launch, the new Spriger is slightly wider and longer, than it's supposed to me. My currant springer gets very hot and doesn't last very long in the water..  :(( :((

Fuse prob sorted now, replaced the 700's with 600's as drained the battery to quick.

I have two 770 in my launch and get maybe 30 minutes per 12v, what did you have as a battery in your spring before changing the motor? :-) ok2

Yes I use the one, time I had a couple of new batteries, and some 6v for the Springer as she does not last long, which is a pity as she looks good on the water, picture on here somewhere I think.  ok2

I have an Action 555 motor in my springer powered by two 6volt 4ah batteries in parallel and I have yet to run it until the batteries die. Why such big motors in a springer?

Mark
That is only a rumour that Martin has put around, considering a springer at full speed will dive like a U boat how does he know how fast it will go :-X :-X :-X It might be one of the most agile and it certainly has a lot of grunt, by the way a standard size springer is limited to a 550 motor on 7.2 volts :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

Yep Know what your saying,.
Both my and my missus standard boats got,a 550 size motor in.
I built a bigger one for fun,and wanted to see more power,It does a wheelie on 2 700's ,but they are very power hungry.
Just put in  the 2 600's to see how it goes.

The one I'm building now in 10'' wide and about 23'' long, if large motors are too much I'll down size, but I'll have some fun testing them first. ok2 :-)
