Hi has anyone got any good steering courses that I could look at.
I have 12 gates to go through and would like more ideas.

This has been our course map for the last few years..
There have been some changes in where the forward/reverse gate
has been located, but otherwise the course is fairly consistent.

In this course we count "stick commands".
Any movement, or command to the pilot is counted as one movement.
Left rudder is a movement, then rudder amidships is a movement, or command.
If someone uses dual throttles, then ahead full (both throttles) is one command.
If that person choses to split the throttles, or rudders, then the commands will be
counted separately.

With this manner of judging, an 11 foot Bismarck can score as well as an 18" springer.

The best possible score, or minimum commands for this course would be about  twenty five commands.

No one has ever scored less than 65.

Umni , not sure what you count as a comand / movement but looking at your course with a good straight running boat i worked it out that you could do the course with 6 movements of the rudder , counting the turning as one if you hold it over and presuming the boat will go straight once the stick is retunded to neutral. if a bit of opposit rudder is required to trim then the count will go up by about double .
I am probibly wrong bit it has got me thinking , this is based on a single prop boat.

Hi gents this is for courses not to see if you can do it in fewer movements.Just to pick up on Daz he says he could do it in 6/8 well daz you must be so good at this because the lowest you could ever do it in i think is 14 and that is keeping it at the same speed.
But please lets not get into this all I ask for is courses and not I can do it in ?????

a couple based on the Naviga triangle!!

a couple that are held in a out door swimming pool!!

one that is held on a river junction !! and one thats held on a pond about half the size of a football pitch, at least you get a few miles for your pennies on the last course that i have posted

Well Colin-d thats what I do call a course many many thanks for posting the courses you have given me great ideas for new courses for this season and I hope you dont mind me copying them.We will have to play the world cup final again this time on the steering course.

were are the British modelbuilders and drivers when there is a world championships????

i have competed in the last 5 world champs out of which i have manage to reach the dizzy heights of 3rd place (F4B) (Scale Kits) in Poland in the year 2000 and for the past 3 championships, me as a Brit living in Germany was the Team Capitan of the German Team.

so i reckon i would have no problems in a friendly any were in Europe..

I was not bragging that i could do it  just an observation , i have now learned that it works on actual stick movement and even a twitch is a movement, that puts me in the hundreds just in me head never mind on the actuall course  .
But this would be a realy good test even for the guys at Elsemere port who are some of the best i have seen with or without a tow.

Good on you Daz  I wasnt be nasy but i do agree with you the boys at the port are good I'm hoping to have them at hoylake for a steering comp sometime this year.
