Paint required
« on: March 05, 2010, 03:53:58 am »

Hi all.
I need to get hold of the following paint for my battleships decks.
Snyder and Short have it on their colour chip chart as 1942 Revised Deck Blue 20B.
Closest I have come to this is Federal Standard FS35042 Flat Sea Blue, or Model Masters MM1718.
I have had no luck on either brands here in Newealand or with White Ensign Models.
Any help much appreceiated.
Cheers,
Adrian.

If you paint the deck a true 20B it will be , on a model, much too dark . I use Humbrol 144. I also choose a lighter grey from the paint chip . All this gives a more realistic appearance to the model and avoids the toy look

Have you tried your local car paint shop, they can mix paint to your shade sample.

The paint is for the main decks of my Richelieu as she was, after her refit in New York. Decks were 20B 1942 Revised Deck Blue.
Thanks.

That would be US 10 in Colourcoats, available from us here at White Ensign Models.
