plannet t5 receiver waterproofing !

i have a plannet t5 that id like to use in my kyosho seawind yacht ,  with the old 27mhz ive taken out i had the rx inside a balloon to prevent it getting wet . the 2.4ghz has a very short rx lead  will putting it into a balloon impare its performance ?

I very much doubt it.  The best answer though is to test it first, probably best done at home.  I have a Spektrum and I've always been amazed at the range but I can't speak for the Planet.

I can't see any reason though why a ballon would affect the reception.

Could you not pearce the balloon to let the airial through , would have thought that it would be still pretty water proof , as long as you don't sink..

What about those zip sealing sandwich, freezer bags ?

Ive found they still work fine in a waterproof box in bubblewarp & stuffed in the bow  ok2

I have to admit that I tend to seal my 2.4ghz receivers in whatever small plastic bags that I have available, with some insulating tape, and then velcro that bag to the underside  of the deck - 600yds+ range is not unusual with most 2.4ghz systems.
