Pretty poor imo. Childlike comes to mind. An opportunity missed for an in-depth study of the Invincible class ships and aircraft . I still cant see the boomerang connection.

The carrier needs to have a flight deck that is level within +/- 5 degrees.
It uses stabilisers to obtain this.
Stabilisers are controlled by a gyroscope.
The boomerang is a simple example of a gyroscope.
The old time Fleet Air Arm guys must be wondering what all the fuss is about. 5 degrees? what about landing on an escort carrier in winter North Atlantic or Arctic?

I'm now getting seriously worried that if I can follow Hamsters "thinking" I may be too far gone to recover.

The boomerang connection would be pertinent in aviation, precession, airfoils etc., most children have seen gyroscope in toy shops and so on. I wanted to see the matelots throwing boomerangs round the hangar to keep the ship stable .  Agree about Fleet Air Arm pilots on heaving and rolling flight decks.

The gyro idea was considered in the light of (a) navigation (b) controlling the stabilisers.
The idea of matelots throwing boomerangs around? Not very likely nowadays - well since Black Friday!

Parts of the programme were quite good, I liked the concept of going through the sequence from a seed drill to the goalkeeper weapons setup via the Gatling gun.

But as I said before, perhaps my mind is getting too damaged if I can understand the rather tenuous threads that can come out of these shows.

i saw it & found it a little disappointing too, although the water purification system was new to me.
However, this evening I received a phone call from my sister saying that after watching it my two nephews were inspired & wanted to go see some real war ships. Since I'm the only one in the family who knows a bow from a stern, could i take them somewhere?  If the programme sparked an interst in some of the younger generation, then maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

Good grief sir, methinks you are already too far gone...there is hope however, I recommend a visit to your local hostelry on a thrice daily routine and ask him for a pint of heavy. It may not cure your damaged mind, but at least when you get home you'll have forgotten about boomerangs and hamsters.

There is something I don't quite understand, the general opinion seems to be the TV progam was no good....................
So why did you all watch it??????? If there is something on I don't like or it is no good, I turn over or turn off.....

There are so few Maritime or engineering programs on TV so we watch what there is... even if it is the numpty Hammond!

For me one of the interesting things was the Gatekeeper,if I had not seen it in action
I would not have believed it,really amazing.

You mean Goalkeeper, the Dutch manufactureres must have been peeved and no mention of depleted uranium or did I miss that. It was snippets like this  that kept me watching. More boomerang stuff with the seed dispenser analogy plus he "Gatlinged" on and on. Fresh water to keep the Sea Harriers hovering for 5 minutes...none there now alas.

 Yes i was looking forward to watching this, and i wasn't impressed, it was a Topgear programme on water, as for the Goalkeeper its a pity they had to had sound over it, as when it fires there's no other sound in the world like it, so more licence payers money down the drain, well done Hamster!
