THEODORE HEUSS Lifeboat
I need some advise please off anyone who can give it.
I have the opportunity to bid for a THEODORE HEUSS Lifeboat on Ebay. It is very old, built in the 1960's and has a polystyrene hull. It can be seen here:

This is the second time it has been advertised and the last time it reached £155.00
The question I have is: What would this be worth bidding to, taking into account it's age, the polystyrene hull and the fact the new ready built one would be £850 plus radio gear.
Would it be possible to resin over the top of the polystyrene to make a proper GRP hull? Or would it sink with the extra weight?
Any help would be appreciated.

Quite how much you pay is your affair, but £150-ish for this lot doesn't seem unreasonable. However if you let a polystyrene hull get within ten feet of polyester resin it will dissolve. Don't go there!
BTW I'm pretty sure that there's a review of this kit by Terry Small in the pipeline at MB magazine, due any time now. I've certainly been asked for wiring diagrams (see ACTion website, under 'Theodor Heuss').

Thanks very much for that. 
I am a novice when it comes to grp and that is why I asked. Really appreciate that I now know it is 'no-no'. I shall look for the review.
