Hi all,
my name is Lou, (forum name :- pugwash04), just joined. Located in Callington Cornwall UK. Past hobbies include 1/10 scale off road r/c racing, building and flying r/c aircraft. I have built x2 kit cars :- Lomax 3 wheeler and a JBA Falcon. At present overhauling my 4th boat, a Wilson Flyer 18ft (wife is going mad as it's been sitting on the drive for the last 4 years but now nearly finished). I have been looking at the Springer tugs on the forum for some time, and have decided to have a go !!!!!

Sorry Lou, cant help you with springers = I'm only really interested in grey things
with guns on.  To be honest I didn't even know what a springer was until a few
months ago, BUT there are lots of the forumers are interested and will keep
you right

Welcome Pugwash04, try a post on the Springer threads, might be a second hand or part finished one going cheap.

Hi Lou, Have you considered building a tug from a plan................. scroll down the list and have a look at the 'Betsy Bev' - code MAR2170:

https://shop.traplet.com/browse.aspx?c=4454                   :-)

     Hi Perkasaman,
have decieded to make one, have the basic hull size measurements, not sure about power, will the 540 motor rev to fast ?, I'm watching a motor on e'bay with a 2.5/1 gearbox, would this arrangement be better ?, all advice gratefully recieved. Building will have to wait for about 6wks as I've just had the tendon stitched back onto my arm at the shoulder, b****y sore !!!

Hi Lou, commiserations on the arm injury. Take this rest as a chance to 'plot and plan' the tug. Which plan do you favour or give accurate hull dimensions and then our 'tuggies' can give their recommendations to help you make appropriate choices. The more information you give the better.  ok2
