It is 16 inches long on the waterline.    A very big one for me, but there is nothing difficult about a merchant sailing ship.   Very little fancy work or carved decorations, no guns or gunports etc.     It is just tedious repetition when it comes to the rigging.    The masts, spars and rigging are 100% metal.     The rigging is fine copper wire that is infinitely easier than messing about with string or twine.   There are no knots in it anywhere.   The rigging is just glued on.    The ratlines are soldered across the shrouds.

Passenger liners and cargo ships are a lot harder to make than sailing ships.    I never had the skill or patience for kits.   This one took 119 hours, spread over 42 days.

The original was built in 1902 and wrecked at Dover in 1910 after a collision with a ferry.

Great.     Look at this though.    This is either the 2nd or 3rd miniature that I ever attempted and I completed it in 1973.   I wanted £20 for it, but was beaten down to £16.   Off it went, and I forgot all about it.    Then it turned up on Ebay a couple of weeks ago where it sold for £376 to someone in America!    I was amazed.

Looking at it now, it was nothing special, but not bad for an early attempt
