Stuka Ju 88 Model

On the TV here we are getting ads for a 1/16th Scale Ju 88 Stuka. Usual two weekly business, first Issues are a pound each and then Subscription. The difference is , the Model is of etched brass! Have you had this in UK? Anyone heard of it before? The finished model does look rather nice, big too! I can't remember how big the Ju88 was, much larger than a Spit though.

Hav`nt heard of anything over here yet.
The Stuka is a JU 87 not 88 :-))
This will be a big model when finished,with a wingspan of about 850mm  or so, but if it is a JU 88 the wingspan will be 1.2metres :o
I`ll bet it will work out pretty expensive as all partworks are,but it still sounds pretty interesting ,any pics?

A Ju88 was a light twin engined bomber.

I'm actuallly in Germany at the moment and I've also seen the add.  The model is a Ju 87 Stuka.  Not knowing a word of German I could only watch but I got the impression that the kit was a wooden frame, are you sure it is all brass etch?

I agree it looks pretty good but then don't all the part works models in the adds?

you may find this sort of thing works out a lot cheaper as an alternative and they are nice model when finished, as far as I know they are still making them there web site is just out of date.

After I had posted I realised my mistake, 87 not 88. I knew it would be corrected quickly! yes it will be a big model. There is also just started The Victory, 1/84 Scale, 1,20 Metre LOA. 120 weekly pats, cost ca 7 Euro a time. works out a lot!If you subscribe you get a stand and tool kit plus odds and bits. has crew members as well. Too big for me, sadly.

I agree it looks pretty good but then don't all the part works models in the adds?I do speak German and the Ad certainly gives the Impression, from word and pictures that it is from brass, will try to find the Web site for it and discover more. The site for the Victory is www.hmsvictory-modell.de looks very impressive, but where would I put it when finished? I bet lots will end up unbuilt and on Ebay!

Just found the Web site, it is  www.den-stuka-bauen.de  got all the details there. It is mostly brass fuselage and wing structures, covered with metal, which sort isn't mentioned. 140 Parts at approx 8 Euros each. The detail is fantastic. It is of the Panzer jäger ( tank hunter) G-2 Version, with the cannons under the wings.It is big! 71 cms long and 93cms wingspan! The undercarriage and some instruments are in resin and the cockpit is clear plastic. Would love to build it, but the price and it is nearly 3 years building time!The supplier is Amati and it is distributed by Hachette, who else!!

Apparantely Guillows has a 1/16th scale flying model of the Stuka done in Balsa, and you can fit that with .049 for free flight or a .09 for what they call U control. With all the small Brushless Motors available and small Esc's and mini servos and batteries I bet you could turn that into a lovely flying Model.
Has anyone got that or seen it. I havent seen it in Australia and wouldnt mind building it..Anyone on the Forum know where to purchase one via Internet and someone who does International Posting/Deliveries :-))
