Needed a new model to try out a couple of ideas.  Its based on late 19th C/early 20th C Norwegian coasters and is about 1/72 scale.  This gives a length of 24 inches (60 cm) with a weight of 5 lb (2.3 kg), a handy size to slip into the back of a car just in case there is a chance to sail.
Power is supplied by a 385 motor and a six cell nicad pack driving a 2 inch (50 mm) propeller.  The large propeller size is no problem with a pulley speed reduction system.
The tops of the propeller blades break the surface and ought to create problems with aeration.  In fact with smooth moment of the throttle stick, this causes no trouble.
A relaxing model to build and sail, now for something a little more exciting.
