I got a real one last week :-)) :-))
HMRC sent me a cheque saying they were pleased to give me a refund for overpayment three years ago.
They said they would send me another letter to explain the reasons for the overpayment which duly arrived
the next day.
Is it beyond them to think 'Lets put the two together and save a few pennies' ?

Ned (Now trawling ebay with my windfall :-)) :-)))

Funny I just got a letter from them saying they owed me a rebate from 2001/2 I thought it was probably a scam.... think Ill call them to double check

I think that HM R&C say that they will never sent you an email - they will always send you a letter....
