Yet another !
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:47:51 pm »

I've given in! Just starting my first Springer, I was wondering what to do with some thin ply that I'd got when dismantling some drawers and this seemed the obvious answer!
I plan to use various bits I've got hanging around, powered by this old 500ish motor, don't really know anything more about it, It has a sticker stating 'Duplex Craft Co.
67/69 Kirkdale Rd South Wigstone on it and it seems to run OK. Ive a shaft and a 3 blade 35mm prop and 2 x lead Acid 6v 4.5Ah batteries.

Don't know about the topsides yet it might be just another Tug type although the thought of 'Ark Springer' with a Harrier type ramp does keep coming to mind!

We are away for a couple of weeks now but update when more happens.

regards

I like your style, I threatened to do a Springvincible but got side-tracked. RO2.5 {-)   Between us we could be the only viable task force left if things get awkward in the South Atlantic again, oops off topic , sorry.

Back from holiday and a bit further on now, test facility is rather limited but at least it floats!

Still undecided about the superstructure

more soon.

Tried the hull under R/C power at Crealy lake on Sunday and all seems OK so have progressed a bit further.

No Ark Springer this time as the inner Tug boat seems to have emerged!

VERY nice, think maybe a railing or two and a mast and she will be complete, nice job. Got a name yet ?

Just a couple more with rails and lifebelts, then a couple of very poor phone pics on the water this afternoon at Crealy, Exeter.

Another successful afternoon at Crealy being sailed by my 8 and a 10 year old grandsons, this was a first attempt for both of them and they did amazingly well!

I'll post a video if I can work out how. but in the meantime the Springer now has a name! The first thing I ever built featuring a spring was a copy of Zebedee from the Magic Roundabout so she has to be ' Zebedee 2 '

TOO COOL!  It looks like you made your hatch seals from soft foam weatherstrip, like I did.  My Springer can run with the bow awash all day and never is there a drop of water inside.  Glad to see the Springer virus spreading around the world some more.   :-))

Yes I thought the weatherstrip would be good, this one was a 'Z' section soft rubber. I tried to make her pretty waterproof and tough as I have 7 grandchildren aged 4 - 13 years all wanting to have a go!
