P258 - HMS Leeds Castle
« on: July 26, 2011, 09:18:32 pm »

Hi I'm new to MBM, and new to model boat building. I've acquired a type 42 and it needs some cosmetic repairs. At the moment I have to replace the deck rails around the heli platform.
Can any member tell me were I can buy these bits as ebay seems not to have any.
Cheers for now Brian 0

Welcome the the madhouse, er, forum! I'm sure someone much more knowledgable will give you a lead on the parts, but I can tell you that's not a Type 42 (that's a destroyer class) and not a frigate either. What you have is what looks like a very nice model of P258 - HMS Leeds Castle. A Castle class patrol vessel (hence the P prefix).

If you look into what HMS Leeds Castle and her sister ship HMS Dumbarton Castle did during the Falklands War, then I think 'patrol boat' does not do them justice. Fishery Protection vessels is what they were built as, however, their role as despatch vessels/mail ships etc kept them very busy during 1982.
Nice model, good luck making it your own..

That sounds like the 1/72 scale hull.
