a bit more framing for the deck, probably overkill but considering the overall expected weight a bit of stiffnes won't hurt.

probably overkill

But it also looks so good - I like nice timberwork, and a smart interior.

Thanks guys, as I mentioned before , I had a work placement thing at an aged care facility and one of my jobs was to remove an old laundry cupboard that just happened to have a nice tasmanian oak frame that was to be thrown out, needless to say it came home with me got cut up and poked through the thicknesser, by the time I got rid of the rebates and nail holes I was left with some lovely 20 x 30mm strips.

Im sure if more people knew the details of what we did for a hobby that there would be no argument about us  being demented.
Oh and by the way, while I was there they recieved a new resident that had dementure, the scary part was that he was only 50.

Spent my sunday laying up hull number 2, here's some pictures.
The discoloured spots in the hull are because I store my matting next to where I spray, the dark spots are acually antifouling red.

Would the shipping costs to UK be crazy? Don't answer if it means your
build thread might get whazzed across to the sales/manufacturing pages.

Hello

Yep the postage is crazy for that size of hull but not so much if you use normal mail but that means you have to cut the hull in to parts to avoid the maximaum 46 inches long packet.

Yes I know it's looks crazy but it what I asked to an US shop for a hull !  Then applying a right procedure it tooks 2 hours to refit the hull in one piece.

Outside with some wood frame to align - masking tape outside to avoid polyester leak - then 4 layers 100gr fibre + resin -  Of course no reinforced resin ouside to avoid a step but only a grey polyester putty to fill the gap and sandering : it's OK !    At the end of ther day my cutted hull was in the water for weight test.

This hul is 52 inches but I've made the same for a 7 feet x-bow hull !

That then beggars the question, why don't model boat hull makers/manufacturers, make their hulls in two parts to aid shipping and postage world wide.

Think of all the extra sales etc

The guy that brought my HMAS SYDNEY FFG plans to cut and make two pieces easy for transport good idea for bigger hulls and would lead to more sales,Mermod make mine a one piece please no need to cut mine thank you and it does begger to differ why some companies do not make two piece hulls makes you think.tassie48

Started transferring sone of the measurements onto the computer for laser cutting, here is the first mdf template, I get it right in mdf first then cut in either acrylic or good quality ply.
