Planet T5 Rx Voltage
« on: April 07, 2012, 05:36:54 pm »

Just a quick question, I hope!

I was planning to power a model boat using a 7.2v R/C car power pack: my son has several 7.2V 5300 mAh NI-MH sticks. The question is, using the BEC of the Viper Marine 15 ESC, am I going to wreck the receiver? The handbook says 4.8 - 6.0 V but surely there must be a bit of leeway. Has anyone tried this and got away with it?

Thanks.

Chris.

Both my boats run with this same setup, with no problem. I also think the rx batt output from the esc is set around 4.5/5 volts.

Yes. Thanks for this. There is quite a lot about this subject on other threads: should have looked first!
Thanks again.

Just set up my equipment and gave it a try. With an input voltage of 7.44 Volts the Viper 15 ESC has an output voltage, to the Rx, of 4.95 Volts. So it does work! :-)

Thanks.
