Speedline 1/16 Severn - Vac form
« on: September 21, 2012, 11:08:46 am »

Hi,

Can anyone help me to identify the vac form parts for this kit; I couldn't find anything in the instructions and Adrian and Speedline is difficult to track down.  I've worked out what about half the parts are but the rest are a mystery.  Any help would be much apprecated.
Cheers

Doh, should have thought of that!  Pics of the parts below.  Some are obvious so aren't numbered.  I've numbered the parts where I think I know what they're for, and A - D I have no idea.  Can anyone help identify A - C and correct 1 -9 if I've got them wrong.

1 - Wheelhouse dome vents
2 - Pump box and lid
3 - Radar monitor and laser plotter
4 - Radar base
5 - Y boat mounts

Cheers

Phil,
With regard to vac form A
These are the trays that go underneath the life rafts  (no. 90) they have to be cut down quite a bit.
Havent worked out D yet.

Phil,
I agree with 1   2   3   4  &  5

B.     I used this cut down to 1/2" lengths , glued two pieces together and then glued the resulting square section under the seats to represent the fabric covering the dampers on the seats.

D.     These are the backrests on the bridge  shown as no. 106 on plan.

Hope this helps,

Gerard

hi
i am having the same trouble identifiying some parts as well ,have finally got replacment trim tabs aftre thrree months as adrian is difficult to contact but also he and his family have not been well
the parts in question are number 68 which seems to be brass parts  or forward mooring bollard which is in resin ,part 68 in brass are on  the same sheet as the trim tabs ,these parts are about one and quarter inches by three eights with holes at each end ,bottem left hand  of the sheet ,there are also some very thin styrene sheets which seem to be part of the wheelhouse and also the rear transom door did you come across these parts in your kit if so what are they used for , tere are also two resin mouldings about 3/8ths by 1/2 inch which seem to fit in to each  other or they are two separate mouldings which are reduced at the ends
any help would most appericated

Yes guys, it would not have taken Adrian long to type a parts list to go along with
his kits. I had the same problem with my Trent build, nice kit though.
Although she is still W.I.P. I will be taking her for ballast and
running gear trials this Sunday, just hope she does well.

Hi Midships,
I'm away from home this weekend but will look at my kit when I get back if you've not got the answer first!

By the way, did your kit come with any 'sundry' parts like compass (hemi)sphere, chord/rope &c?

Ok, I've had a look at my kit and the only parts on the same brass sheet as the trim tabs look like the motor cooling fans - sheet N.  Could you post some pictures of the parts you're talking about and I'll try to help?

Actually forget my replies - I've just seen you're building the Tamar - I got confused by the post being in this thread - sorry.
