Twelve of my scratchbuilt models

Having just joined U-tube, I have put twelve of my scratchbuilt steam and motor ships models on it.     Note:    None of them are for sale, in fact the only one I still have is the Rhodesia Star, that was my first ship in 1961!    Neither do I take private commissions!

Nice ships, I do like the Rhodesia Star but then I am baised as I was born in Rhodesia - I have plans to build a model of HMS Bulawayo (town I was born in) so a Rhodesia Star would go well with it

Rhodesia Star is one of our permanent collection as she was my first ship in 1961.   London - Australia and back to Liverpool, so we never went near Southern Africa, but I did spend many years on the passenger ship run to the Cape aboard Union-Castle, Safmarine and St. Helena Line passenger liners.

Saw your SS Rhodesia Star article Mayhem - excellent!   I wish to build 1/96 RC model of this ship.  Can you assist, please, with sourcing these plans?

Dick,
When you log into Mayhem, click on "Your Models" on the left hand side.    Scroll down to "Bob - Miniature Scratchbuilding,"   with a picture of a miniature battleship.   Open it up and you will find basic plans of Rhodesia Star in it.     That is the only plan I have.    The ship was a standard C3 design, completed in the USA in 1943 and they built loads of them.

Dick,
Rhodesia Star.
Completed in 1943 by the Seattle, Tacoma SB Corp, USA as Escort Class aircraft carrier USS Estero.    Became HMS Premier, lease/lend to Royal Navy.    After war, converted back to her original intended design as a C3 class cargo ship with 12 passengers.
Gross tonnage 8,467.   Length 492 feet overall.   Beam 69 feet 6 inches.   Summer draught 29 feet 5 inches.

If you look on Google, there are lots and lots of photographs of her.     Several years after I left, they ruined her looks to a great extent by sticking  a thin black stove-pipe type extension in top of funnel.     

In later life, she became Hongkong Knight.
