Thanks Dave, still fighting the urge for a nap in the afternoons but getting there slowly.
I must admit I was a bit annoyed when the first doctor told me on Friday that It couldn't be anything too serious then ended up at the a+e  a few hours later where I was poked, prodded, injected and sent home with enough tablets to choke a horse.
good to be back in the workshop and back on mayhem that's for sure!

Keel cooling cut from 2mm ABS sheet, tried acrylic first but wasn't quite flexible enough to follow the hull contours.

First test of the finished deck, the rear hatch has a false top that holds on with rare earth magnets, underneath is a storm hatch that screws down onto a rubber seal.

This one is to be called the Wattle as per the original and mine will be called Big Stan, a bit of a play on the Damen StanTug and maybe a bit of a shout out to the movie Big Stan (very funny)

The tug in the port (Holyhead) is a Damen Stan Tug called the Saint David, always see it and fancy making a model of it some day :)

That's the shortest distance from the pivot point to the link arm pin I've ever seen.

Have you tested the amount of movement when connected to a servo ?  It does look to me as if the rudder will turn very quickly for a greater distance but under a great strain on the servo motor.

Thanks for your concern  Ken, looks close I know but I use the same specs on many of my other models.
Rather than setting up a connecting linkage between tillers I simply use a port and starboard servo so each rudder has its own servo, leaves heaps of power for the swing.
Also If anyone is looking for a good source of linkages I got these from a Traxxas Revo monster truck

St Davit, ex Valiant B is a stan tug 1906, one of the final built and certainly one of the more powerful ones around.

I probably should explain my choice of radio and speedy, I find the Hitec transmitter to be one of the easiest to set up for tank style motor control. Normally most radios above 2 channel have one stick without a spring for aircraft throttle whereas I prefer to have both sticks return to centre for a boat model, so far the hitec optic 5 and 6 are the only ones I know of that already have the spring and arm in place so you only have to remove the ratchet thing and undo the spring tension.....easy no extra parts no trying to swap arms and springs.
As for the speedy, I sold a lot of these when I had my shop and never had an issue, I run them in my own boats and have found the amp rating to be correct, also they are an absolute pleasure to program using the separate programmer (following the beeps without the programmer is a pain with any brand )
