California Maker Faire Battle Pond - 2013
« on: May 24, 2013, 05:12:01 am »

Just completed our (Western Warship Combat Club) 6th annual Maker Faire event, in which 1:144 Axis & Allied fleets engage in battle in a 40-foot x 72-foot "Battle Pond" before audiences of 1,100. We held 10 of these battles over the course of the two-day event, which means we had a combined audience of 11,000. The Maker Faire event itself attracted over 150,000 attendees this year.

In between battles, our sister club (the San Francisco Model Yacht Club) taught sailing lessons to anyone interested.

The strange-looking flying contraption in a few of the shots is a hex-copter equipped with video. It shot one of our battles from the air, viewable here.
