I bet the skipper got an ear bending over the cottages
How about this one? And what's the significance of the craters in the face of the mountain?

A rum place perhaps?

Would have most displeased if it had been Townsville.

Mount Coolum? The columns of hard magma formed the cracks but not sure of a nautical link.

Ok, Mt Coolum it is. The nautical link. During the second world war, much to the displeasure of the local tribe of aboriginals who own the mountain, the The Royal Australian Navy used it as target practice and blew great chunks out of the rock. The navy have since apologised for  their act of desecration.

Well Geoff...folk from down South well know Coolabah Wines O0, but cannot find Mount Coolum on Google  %)

Come to think of it......the closest to the Equator that I have ventured was on an evening dinner cruise of the Brisbane River .....and that ain't near your Mount Coolum land

Derek

PS...for Neil.....Coolabah Wines are far nicer than that Sugary Syrup pigs piddle <*< from up Bundy way

Goodness Geoff....after reading this, clearly the place must exist if our RAN Gunnary Department found it  :-X

At a similar time during early WWII, the Navy of the USA offered to use the eastern shoreline of NSW just north of Coalcliff as gunnery practice and blow  <*< all of the rocky coastline away for use as an improved train railway between Wollongong & Sydney

I would love to know how Brian found the correct answer as the picture has never been posted on the www before. The 118 k from Brissy was very precise though.

a very tenuous link there if I might say so.........at least a picture with water in and a bullnose shark up the river could have passed for nautical, but a rock with chunks out of it.................well.......ya gotta have quite an imagination for that one matey. lol............oh well....................over to you Tombsy........pick a guddun............preferably with some watter in at least,  {-) {-) {-) %% %% %% %%

don't normally like rum Derek, but I do like liqueurs and especially Quantreau and Grand Marnier......... and Bundaberg is very close to a sweet sickly liqueur...

as for Coolabah wines.........are you pulling my pinkey blue............I've heard of hunter valley and Barossa and Clare valley wines I used to go to at Easter time with my mates who lived in Adelaide to do the tours...............but never heard of Coolabah..........anywhere near Penfolds..........That was like paint stripper years ago, but certainly improved considerably in recent years.

Coolabah wines are what we call Cask Wines. A sort of foil bladder full of wine packaged in a cardboard box, usually cheap, but some are ok...ish

Yes Neil.....things have changed....Chateaux de Cardboard  wines are available at all liquor outlets for ~~$2.00 per litre

Many varieties...reds, pinks, whites although all still some are  :P OK, some probably would make good paint stripper

Geoff being a man from the far Northern Coolum reaches would probably prefer his Chateaux de Cardboard as a 2017 vintage chilled Pin Wah-de Gree {-)
