Got the kit, now to R/C it .
Anyone got any ideas re shafts, motors, etc.
I was thinking of using 2mm Raboesch shafts with 25mm props   and two ESCs each driving  2 props.
However its a long way from the props to get the motors etc underneath the removable superstructure, at least that's my impression from a quick glance at the kit.

HI KenP P/M SENT. I will be using 2 mm shafts from SHG or Model Boat Bits. Prop Shop can supply 5 bladed and 4 bladed props. The maximum length of the shafts at 2 mm is about 12in I have these to fit in my Arizona SHG said was the maximum length they could supply. Are you fitting 4 shafts 2 esc?

Yes. That's what I plan to do.  4 props/shafts and 2 escapes. Also need to sort out the twin rudders.
I understand that Ron Dean will be coming out with an R/C kit similar to the one he does for the Bismarck.  Got no idea of price though
Thinking of using the White Ensign paints to get the colours right, as per the US Navy paint scheme Measure 22. Looks as if that is what the recommended colour scheme is.

HI KenP Yes measure 22 is the easiest to apply. But I have to say measure 32 design22d is the best but hard to apply lots of masking off needed. Connecting the twin rudders posses no problems I use fittings used by the model aircraft people. If the tiller arms are big enough it only take minutes to connect them using small brass nipples and wire rod. I would say that MFA 385 motors would be ideal for this project but that is my personal choice. I have sent you a few p/m if you want to make contact please feel free to do so.

Hi Ken
I have done several plastic kit conversions. I have tryed lots of diffrent ideas and items. I would recomend mtronics micro ESC. Do not use the action ESC as they can not handel 6v. I have started using lip bats , great power and very light. 7.4v give good rpm on the motors wich is required as the props on plastic kits are small. The mtronics ESC can handel 7.4V as action micro can not.

on my last post . It is only the Action micro ESC that can not handel a 5 cell 6 v pack. The bigger ESC can handel higher voltages.

sorry if there was any confusion as I forgot to put in micro

Hi John,
I've only built non plastic before, using Sirmar and Fleetscale hulls.
I have a couple of batteries, Tornado TRC 3700 Nimh, and a pair of Viper Marine 20 EScs; will these do?

Hi ken
the esc should be ok.
The bats you do not say the voltage . I would guess they are packs and are at either 7.4v or 7.2 v.
I work in this order.
1 prop size determinds motor size which determinds esc size , bat has to work with both motor and esc  min and max voltage.
these kits at 1:200 are a lot bigger that the 1:350 , 1:400 kits that most conversions have been done to date.

When you get your kit. make the hull tempory water tight using tape. mark the water line on the hull in pencil. put her in the bath and ass weight till she sinks to her water line. weigh all that weight. this will give you the MAX weight the hull can support. form that figgure minus the weight of the rest of the kit and that is what you have left for ,paint and r/c equpiment. Since you kit is 1:200 you should have a fair bit of weight for rc equipment.

Hi Guys spent all last night checking the kit. Should you wish to apply the colour scheme for 1944 then the aircraft will need to be changed. White Ensign models can supply 1/200 scale kingfishers to suite that time period.

I have been checking the p e parts for the 1/200 scale  Missouri what a job so many small parts. The quality of the parts  is superb. Just a few pictures of some of the items.
