Hi all! My first post, I am novice to the boat community, so apologies for any stupid questions! I have an areokits fire tender, and about to start a restoration of a 48" huntsman 28. I am having awful trouble with the mechanical combo, running a Graupner 700 turbo, 42mm 2 blade "x" prop, ripmax "seasprint" watercooled esc, 3300 12v nimh, or 2 x 3300 7.4v. It produces a nice scale speed, but gets too hot too quickly, and eats the batteries in approx 12 to 15 mins. Until this is sorted I cant continue with the cosmetic build. Any comments on this combo would be appreciated.
Now, I cannot find chrome fittings anywhere!. Can anybody help? I have found a windscreen, and a nice front chrome fender/rail, but cannot get fittings, cleats, bollards etc I would prefer plastic, that are chrome plated, for cost reasons, can't afford to get any chrome plated myself, someone out there must make them!

COME ON EVERYONE!, help a newbie with his first post post please! someone must be able to point me in the direction of some chrome plated fitings!

Give Westbourne models a call. They have a very good selection of fittings, I went there recently and suspect if they don't have it no one does. Only problem with mail order is that it never seems to look the same in the flesh as it does in the picture.

its not that expensive to get items vacuum chromed, - there are companies out there that vacuum chrome items for you,  so long as the items are made in a rigid and  non organic material then they should chrome ok,  i have had acrylic and resin parts vacuum chromed before...
so if you can find suitable fittings that are not chrome then there is that option....

there is a company in the brighton area that offers a fast turn round at sensible prices, i had about 9 items chromed and the bill was about £12, but it was about 5 years ago....

i will see if i can dig out the details... i may have lept them ... somewhere... maybe someone else has a firm they could recommend....?

cant actually find the details, but i did a search and i am pretty sure this lot are the firm i used to chrome some stuff for me......

just got my latest/ cap maquettes/ bow wave models catalogue, it has several pages of chrome fittings, and looking at the images these seem to be ideally placed on a riva aquarama style boat... maybe some of these could be  used on your huntsman ?

The motors specifications are:

So at max efficiency 16 amps, which does tally with your run times.
You could water cool the motor or try a slightly smaller prop.
