Tesla's story is extraordinary and not a little tragic.  Here's a picture of a museum replica of his "Teleautomaton" the world's first Radio Controlled boat.  Watch out for a series of 3 documentries called "Shock and Awe" which are excellent.  The second one deals with the rivalry between Tesla and Edison.

Yes, very interesting.

The April 2013 issue of Model Boats carried a two page article with plans by John Parker covering this model. Very informative.
