Ok...


So, I've not got much done this week so far but last night, I fitted a tow bar and the electrics to my wifes car and then got to work on the Springer...


Not much but I sorted the crappy window frames and started detailing the inside of the side hand rail bits... (not sure what they are called???)





Inside hand rail lbits...??? Lol...





Anyway, I need to hit this as we hope to take it to the Isle of White with us in August....

Ok, It's getting late in the game now and I need a little advice....


I've been working on the hand rails and "BULWARKS" I'v also built a funnel of sorts.... I'm not sure about that though???


Can I get a vote on it??? or suggestions???

That inverted/convex glass system for the bridge deck looks great :-)) Dave

Are you really allowed to place the model on the Calisia classical piano stool?  {-) is the Calisia Spanish?  :P

The funnel is neither here nor there.......just get on & give her a coat of paint  %) .... Derek

The funnel ( chimney/exhaust stack) is fine , add a curved tube stub. Look in the local plumber`s supplier for a suitable copper  pipe corner bend or straight stubs cut at an angle.   Nice build all together.

Thank you... It was a little fiddly but it fits together ok...


Hey, I was going to be a £10 pom in your area back in the 70's!!!


BTW, Just don't tell the wife about the stool!!!

Why not make two Superstructures and have two Spingers for the price of one ( nearly ).

I've been doing some work today and it's getting there....

I finished the bulwarks and hand rails, changed the funnel and temp' fitted some exhausts, and fitted a tow post...

Almost ready for paint I think???

I'm struggling to find time to get this one done! Who want 4 superstructures????


I will draw mine up in three weeks after our holiday.... and as for this one, I sould have paint on it today! :o

One is not best pleased!  >:-o


Today, I have been filling, sanding, sealing and sealing and sanding......


Then I started to prime........


I did the superstructure and most of the top side of the hull and my wife called me for dinner.... after that, 2hrs later, I went back to have a look and finish priming the hull and oh no!... I'm not sure the  primer is compatible with the sealer???


For the most part it looks ok and in some areas, it's split like it'/s shrunk and slid??? Oh "xxxxx"!!!  {:-{ {:-{ {:-{







You can see some "splitting in the primer on the deck to the right..




And then....





Now I'm not sure what to do about this???  {:-{

Can you list the products you've used for confirmation.  i expect you are going to have to sand it all off.

Yeesh! that's the same reaction I had when painting my failed Pegasus build....

Possible causes:
1. Incompatible paints.
2  Incompatible batches!
3. Old paint.
3. Too much paint.
4. Contamination
5. Aliens

It was suggested to me that after sand down, several light coats (dusting) was the way to go.....

Thanks guys, I took it to a paint guy at work and he's sure it's too much paint!
just in local areas where I've tried to get good coverage too quickly! some sanding and re-prime....

I hope that is all it is.  I've had that happen before.


Primer dries so quickly, I've learned through experience multiple light coats is faster in the long run.  Usually makes sanding it down easier too.

Yup!


Well, I've just spent a while sanding off the worse of it and given it a light "1st coat" of primer and it looks way better already!
I'll give it another coat and maybe start on the white before I turn in....  :-))
