USNS GRASP and the mighty ship series
« on: September 12, 2014, 05:55:42 pm »

:-) Has anyone noticed how in the mighty ship series, even though I do like to see these ships and how they work, that they always seem to have a serious problem - that to most people is not a problem just a way life throws you a curve ball.

Like in the USNS Grasp, pumps fail and then how they said ooohh its now a case of life and death case they now have to haul them up by the umbilical and they only have a couple of minutes before the risk their lives, and then miraculously everything is done on time panic over. What they probably did not explain is that to make the program seem more interesting is they planned for the emergency drill anyway - as any responsible dive team would do.

I wish these program makers would just understand that people would like to see how things work and what causes delays and how they resolve problems, without "bigging" it up.

Or any reality show. I don't generally bother with them but I did watch Scrappers - they struggled with the lack of any real crisis or peril there but it was better for it I think.
