Universal prop shaft coupling
Existing kit rudder bonded to smaller rudder with resin
Futaba 2 channel radio.

Runs 3-4 hours at slightly over scale speed.

Overlander 50amp speed controller Discharge: 50A forward/20A reverse. Plug in and go, no set up needed.

Two Sitek 40mm 3 bladed brass props.

Two Tornado TRC4300 9.6v Sub C Nimh battery packs. No need for ballast.

JJC Turbocat sound system [great]

Runs slightly over scale speed.

Dont know run time as batteries have never run down. Have run for approximately 3 hours.

yes this is an RTR however it has some scope for reworking to improve her performance

how it comes -
Motor : 2x speed 200 on gear box
drive train pre installed
servo pre installed
radio pre installed 27mhz

recomended upgrade
rudder servo- Futaba S3003 or better
motors - fine as is.
esc's Viper 15x2
battery 1x twin tail AA 7,2v (though 2x AA7.2 under fan tail is ok)
radio 4ch Futaba (R114F)
install V-tail mixer if your radio does not have VT mix on ch3&4

Servo pre-installed is identical is size to Futaba S3003, however despite what many people say about the servo that comes with it, that servo is perfectly capable and has sufficient travel, however when you upgrade, move the control arm to the outermost hole on the rudder tiller

Glasgow Steam Harbour Tug from Graupner

welder light is from a guy at work who told me it comes from a fake candle, welding gear is self made

running time approx 5-7 hours and runs to scale.

running problems she tends to tílt slightly in strong winds as she doesn´t have a very deep keel but looks good on calm waters.

I used a Deans Marine Kestrel 5 Motor.

( Did not use recommended motor as the gear box is sometimes noisy went direct drive. )

1:24 scale steam drifter, scratch build.

12v 7a battery - duration not tested yet but expect 2hrs or so.

Buhler motor, 60mm prop, home made shaft with phosphor bronze bushes.

Electronize esc.

Action switcher to switch on standing lights on 3rd channel. Action twin flicker unit to give oil lamp effect on all lights

Charging circuit installed to allow charging of battery without removal - just plug in and go!

Weight 10kg.

update on drifter:

Had it in the bath today to measure current - 0.5a !! on a 60mm prop on 12v.

That gives a duration of over 12 hours!

This is what is in it.

HITEC HS815BB sail servo
I used this as it is big and has about 23+ kg/cm of torque. For comparison a basic sail arm servo has about 7kg/cm of torque.
It is much bigger but space is not a problem in this beamy model.

Futaba S3003 - standard servo for rudder
I used this as it came in the box with the transmitter.

Attack 2ER Futaba radio
Cheapest 2 channel I could find.

Proposlusion - varies
Sometimes small wind, sometimes big wind.

Speed - somtimes slow, somtimes faster (see propulsion above).

Battery life
TX about 20 hours using regualr Duracell.
RX about 8 hours, unless heavy winds, then 6 hours.

No Motor
