The North Sea in winter, not a lot else to say Derek     Do a search for oil rig standby vessel, north sea for the conditions they have to put up with.

It may be going through, but it is still plowing, and being forced up on top of the swell.
The Xbow, and AXE bow ships actually cut through.

You can't always pick what weather you sail in on a real ship - the weather comes to you.
Some pictures taken by the late Bob Turner when the model owner (Phil Scales of Ribble MBC) could have chosen to not sail, but didn't.  The occasion was the last gathering of the Deep Sea Rescue Tugs Association, and several said that the conditions were a good representation of the North Atlantic.

Bin there - done that, and found a lot of water in the hull afterwards - nieve sealing of the deck, mine even sank once due to U-weed dragging her backwards under - very scale and very annoying.
