that is the best technical description I have heard for the "bow" in ages
on reading a good number of build blogs on here and other sites, the consensus is to use wooden blocks from the 1st or 2nd frame in from the stem post [ the pointy end] and plank up to them....thus alleviating the process of steaming and bending the planks into the stem post.
consensus is also to use either blocks of balsa or obeche and for the grain of the wood to run horizontally to the keel......[the bottom bit]...NOT vertically............easier to sand and not have chunks flailing off if filing to shape.
