been doing a fair amount of fettling and research in to new camera. see if it improves my david bailey'ness.
the outboards have had to be reworked with a different gear arrangement, from a helicopter spares selection. trouble is i now have a ratio of 2:1 ( i think)
some bits have been added to the tubes and the spray rails have been started, and they are a pain.

After months of messing about, it finally got a proper test run today. To say the speed was a disapoitment is putting it mildly. Speed was totall failure. Probably due to the fact the bevel gears are 4:1, slowing the shaft speed down by a quater. I could try fitting faster motors, but i realy dont want to go to that expense, plus the are a lot larger and i realy want to keep it to scale as much as possible. Gutted, all that work. Had time to think while sitting in a traffic jam on the way home and came to the conclussion the only thing to do was put in a single motor and bite the bullet.
oh well. Just hope that gets her on the plane.

Hello!
Your outboard is wonderfull, a pity if you cant use them. Isn't it possible to change the gear ratio some how? Hope you sort it out, good luck!

Johno, started off with the gears you recomeended. trouble was i couldnt keep them meshed, the tolerances were to fine for my kitchen table and brass tubing to handle. Beleive me i tried. But have now just given up. Hull now has a single prop shaft sticking out the bottom, UUUHHHGGGG!!!!.
May try again some time in the future.

Could you kit bash the KMB Wiking hull into a RNLI resue craft. Also due to its larger size could normal outboards be used.

after what seems like forever off rubbing down peeling paint, filling, sanding, filling sanding and all again. then masking choking, masking , choking i have an end result. none too pleased with the result, but i'll live with it. not too bad, could be better.
stilll a long way to go, outboards to be rubbed, primed, rubbed primed. boring.
oh well.
