N-gauge Garnock

Built to approximately 1/150th scale, around 6 1/4" long, so quite a small model. Hull, bulwarks and  lower superstructure carved from MDF, with the funnel made from a scrap of ply and copper rings. Wheelhouse and bridge pieces made from foamed PVC. These are plugs which will be used to make rubber tools then epoxy glass, but still some detailing to do before then. Fittings to do, will have a go at some DIY photoetching for the majority of those, as things get very itty bitty at this scale.

Basic construction is no different to a larger more del, just smaller. Making the fittings presents the greatest challenge, especially the windlass and toe hooks. Always liked the Caldecraft model, but they’re long since out of production and rarely appear for sale secondhand. I prefer scratch building to kits anyway.
