Spent too long in a job I hated working with people I disliked but now I can please myself so everyday is a party day and I can visit places when the working classes are doing there penance

Imagine the retired Engineers and Shipwrights on this sewage sludge steam engined vessel...... [or a sh*t tanker]

According to the WEB site, one of her treated sewage tanks has been converted to a Shipwrights workshop

I am sure quite a number of Consultant Sanitary Engineers were engaged in her new transport role

Quite a while since we took our first step into shares and the price has been up and down like a yoyo.
I have bought and sold and bought more back and sold etc until today where I've sold all stock for a £3700 profit.
Now the price will either continue to rise to spite me or it will bob along but hopefully drop again considerably at which point I'll buy back more shares for the same money.
Only a 10p drop will gain me another 1000 shares etc.

So just now I'm in the no risk zone of all cash.

Things I've learned
Transaction fee of £11.95 buy or sell, cheaper if you make frequent deals.
Stamp duty! 0.5% charge on all purchases
Selling no tax just transaction fee.
Capital gains. first £12,000 profit tax free, if you make more you can offset with your costs against tax.
To secure your gains you need to pick a point at which to sell, this locks in that gain.
When the price drops use your gains to buy back more shares at the lower price.

That cruise is on the cards for free

Now planning our fourth trip to London in the Motorhome this May after the marathon. No I’m not competing

Staying at Abbey Wood site again, last year was Crystal Palace.
Transport around London is fantastic and cheap if you understand it and by the end of the trip you just about do

even if too late

We’re just looking at the river roamer Thames clipper
Pretty much use it all day for £17.80 if booked online.
This does 23 piers along the Thames hop on hop off. I could easy spend a couple of days doing that with a packed lunch

Government Rip-Off?.........

In OZ, we have State Controlled 'Working with Children' security checks and registration........

I understood and accepted the need for such checks...[considering the reports of charges for inappropriate behaviour bought against the few]

So 4 years ago, I applied & was granted my WWCC registration after just a few hours...then provided my WWCC number to our Live Steamers Group, as sometimes 100's of children congregate during our monthly Public Running days etc

In January just gone, the wonderful people at the NSW Government Department for WWCC sent an e-mail reminding me my registration required renewal, and that as a volunteer ...ZERO $ cost applies......Easy....just apply online

1st stumbling block.......need a certified copy of my Full Birth Certificate .......[Official Extract of Birth Certificate not acceptable]

Well I spoke with a person from the Wonderful Help Line and explained that our Australian Department of Defence needed my then 35 year old Full Birth Certificate some 35 years ago, however which was never returned...

So I offered a Registered Extract of my Birth Certificate and a copy of my archived Australian Government Service Number Card, no........the NSW government computers don't talk with the Commonwealth Government computers

A scanned copy of my Commonwealth Medicare Card, NSW Drivers Licence, Commonwealth Pensioners Concession Card and a Gas Utility Bill were all acceptable........[interestingly 2 of these Cards are Commonwealth and all or these people knew my date of birth & name

].....but No!.......

I must pay $60.00 AUD

[+0.4% Card surcharge] for a new copy of my Full Birth Certificate to confirm to the WWCC people that I am the same person that I was not only 4 years ago, but also 70+ years ago

Recently tried to set up a personnel online tax account been an honest citizen ???? we ll after many texts from them I thought this is going well that was until they did a credit check .No credit history no online account . I have never had credit just dont believe in it.
Guess I will have to keep my illgotten gains until the bailiffs arrive

Now that it is fairly certain that the Old Grotts TV free license is being knocked on the head we will wait for the demand letter to arrive from the BBC (British Broadcarping Castration) demanding payment. Now, as the current free licence is in the wife name, if I refuse to pay will the heavies call and take her into custody ?

Earlier in my post about shares I alluded to the fact that the shares I sold might continue to rise in value to spite me. Well indeed they did and at close on Friday were nearly 15p more which if you had a crystal ball would be great and netted another £1600.
Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow but from past form they should start falling otherwise I have missed the boat.
Either way after recalculation of spending and return I made £4250 since the end of June

I will watch daily for a suitable buy back price but this time not all at once as I learned that is not a good move as they often continue to fall in price

I just topped my car diesel up today at ASDA for £118.7 . £35 she took and that's my first fill this year

I have to confess that we have not ventured to the cinema at all recently. We know that the one we go to has a pretty ferocious ventilation system that requires us to be very substantially clothed to stay warm. We deem the risk of contamination (Covid19) to be too great.

The euro got very strong against the £ on Friday and the pound may yet deteriorate further.

I did reinvest in Kier shares last week at £1 after which they rose to £1.20 but I'm keeping these for longer term as the order books for contracts are very full and company restructuring has removed a lot of debt so the future is much brighter. These share could hit 90P on Monday or less so I have an order pending to buy more if 90p or less pans out.

Changing the subject a little, this pensioner has received the new Council Tax bill for 2020/21 from Gedling Borough Council. It's gone up by 3.9%. The rate for my Band F bungalow in semi-rural Notts is a fraction shy of three grand. If it were to be moved to The City of Westminster it would be just over 1/3 of this. When my CT bill thudded through the letter box last year, I got onto the council to pay by 12 installments rather than the 10. OK, you dont get the 2 months 'free' but divided by 12 instead of 10 made a hefty difference.

Having more time at home I've become an avid watcher of DMAX channel 150 on Freesat.
Some programs are absolute rubbish especially the Brown family in Alaska who are like the beverly hillbillies

Alaska last frontier with the Kilchers is very entertaining

Surprisingly I'm watching the car programs too and actually find some of their builds from wrecks amazing. Fast N Loud is my favourite of several.
