Just as a thought, whilst not entirely scale, if you are going from 45mm props to 55m props that's only 5mm each side so you may just have enough clearance anyway, or maybe extend the prop shafts by say 1 inch and this may give you clearance to try the bigger props without significant surgery.

HI Geoff well i wish you was right on this but im  afraid you are wrong sorry to say no i have fitted on 33 mm props what shew on the plans an they are nowhere big enough so i was goin for 45mm props an yes i could have just got away with them but then i contacted my boaty m8 who has bought my hms edinbough type 42 at in 1/64 th scale an 7ft 3" long an a fairly heavy model as she sailed great an asked him what size props i fitted on her an he replyied that the props are 55mm so i think to be on the safe side due to the cost of these props im goin a bit bigger at 55mm an hope they will be enough as this is the last throw of the dice as im not throwin any more money at this model as this is the most exspensive ive ever done but due to size of her it a hit an miss job on gettin things right first time which hasnt happned an yes the surgery will have to happen all 4 prop shafts drilled out an new big motors fitted an then maybe new A -frames an them shafts all reset should take about 6 months i reckon

I still think you are wrong to rip it all out, without trying the new motors, I notice you said 33mm props I take it that is a typo error as I have just looked at my plans and 333mm is for a 1/96 scale.
Try the motors first with current props you may be surprised, also its what lots are telling you to do.
Not criticism, just trying to save you doing lots of work that you don't need to.
Have you got through to Cornwall models yet?

I Bob no shant bother with cornwall boats as jen rang 5 times an no answer but a boaty m8 came to see me today an he was horrified when i said what i was goin to do an he thinks that yes the present props are for 1/96 scale tiger like he is building an he says go with the 45 mm props as with them big motors they should be enough to get tiger goin an just make the rudder a bit bigger but keep it in scale Sooooooooooo ok Bob i'll listen to you all an fit 45mm props an i then wont have to tear up the hull an he is goin to get me some props from prop shop hopefully so see what happens as no i dint want to cut the hull but i was thinkin i was out of options an cheers Bob for your intrest an post ATB TO YOU SIR

HI GUYS well  here i go again for the 5th time im now fittin in tiger them motors that martin reccomened an will see how these go with 45 mm props fitted when i get them an fittin the big motors in has been a job as had to grind out the motor mountin to get the big motor to fit an now got to cut off the wire eletric motor terminals an refit new ones as they are a differnt size an to add to my problems the chap in the model shop sold me the wrong size motor mountin bolts so got to go back today an hope he can sell me the correct size bolts an a couple of linkpics of the big motor fitted in the hull

I have the same set up in my 1/72 Type 22 Batch 3 at over 6' ft runs perfectly at scale speed, I use 2 x LiPo 3s 8000Mah. 45mm type c props

HI Rich is yours a fleetscale grp hull as i also built HMS CAMPBELTOWN F86  an she was 7ft 3" long an made a very nice model an sailed very well does yours sail well be nice to see a pic of yours on here as ive now posted a linkpick of mine but small pic so you will have to zoom in on it

Hi Chris
Yes I did have a build but when photo bucket changed it wiped all my images, so there is only one page and that is dealing with the divers lines I painted on her.
Motor set up two torpedo 850 motors with each having its own esc, one on each up and down stick, motors mounted along side each other, so nothing really out of the ordinary.

an well on tigers motors  i managed to get some motor fixin bolts to hold motors in their mountins an im just goin to try just 2 big motors an the 2 smaller johnsons motors with the new bigger 45 mm props when they come as my m8 ordered them for me from prop shop an it was a surprise really so will sail with these an if still not enough power then i'll remove the johnsons motors an fit the other 2 big motors an then see how she goes an pic of them big motors all fitted in

HI ALL well them props have finely come as they were delivered to my boaty mate on monday an as jen an i got invieted to his an his SWMBO for tea i picked them up an they are made from bronce just like the real ships props an not brass an they look the bussiness so ive now fitted them on the shafts an now just got to make the rudder bigger an on warship day will try her out again for the 3rd time wish me luck all an pics of them props an they are now 45mm size up from 33mm[/size]

Nice looking props, that rudder looks about the same size as the 1/96 on my Tiger, so if that's case could be why it was not working 100%.

an yes props hopefully will do the job accordin to prop shop chap an yes im makin the rudder bigger too so hope when i try her at warship day at Norwich on sept 10th she will sail ok but till the its a big ? mark

well i made the rudder big as i can to try an keep it in scale an a few pics an if this dont turn her i dont know what will as the rudder is now nearly 4 inches long so hopefully should give her a good turn circle whatwith them new bigger props    if not i shall be

Chris, That rudder should do the trick. I hope that your servo can stand the load! A quarter scale servo might be in order. Best of luck on your next trial.

HI Akira yes i only hope so but you may have a point on how heavy a load that rudder may be under an if i need a bigger servo then that will have to happen an i will get a bigger servo in fact i think i will fit in a brand new servo as the one ive fitted is an old one many thanks for pointin that out Sir cheers

just fitted tiger togeather an tried that rudder servo an i think it will be ok as when tryin it i could not stop it turning with my fingers so servo very strong so should take water load on the rudder ok fingers crossed
