Just filled up with E10 = 87.9 cents/litre .....best buy in the Wollongong area.....100m down the road U91 = 113.9 cents/litre

E10 = 90% unleaded raw fraction + 10% ethanol and has a RON of 94
U91 = 100% unleaded raw fraction and has a RON of 91
 >>:-(  so that's $0.26/litre more expensive  {-)  for a fuel with a lower RON [octane + anti knock brew]

Derek

[When ethanol was first introduced as an Australian fuel alternative, the big Oil Companies suggested that using 10% ethanol based fuel would destroy the fuel injection systems........ the manufacturers of vehicles in the Global Market [GM, Ford + Japanese] confirmed vehicles with identical fuel systems were preforming perfectly O0 on 80% ethanol in South American Countries]

Apparently it was also done widespread when the UK converted to metric in 1971, they would round up the ½ pence even though the conversion was for less i.e the conversion was somewhere between say 12p and 12½p they rounded up to 13p, sneaky yep.

I saw in the papers yesterday that UK petrol prices are heading down towards £1/litre and in some places are even lower. Ironic that this should happen when hardly anyone can go out and drive anywhere... :D

How could you tell? I've never seen such a grumpy-looking child, and that laser-beam glare she gave Trump was a stone-cold killer! Shame it didn't work....

She may also be noticing the collateral effects of the policies she has been advocating.

The BP station at Brize Norton is the cheapest I’ve seen petrol and diesel since I started driving!
Petrol- £1.05 per litre
Diesel-£1.11 per litre

I never thought I’d see it this cheap again!

I can clearly remember arriving home one evening in 1967, in my 875.cc Hillman Imp, and being appalled that petrol had just gone up above 5 shillings per GALLON!

I have no idea what that is in todays prices, far too much maths at this time.

5 shillings = 25p !!!!

And that's per gallon, so for a litre it'd be 25p/4.546 = 5.49  p/litre!!!!!!!!

ahah....the Hilman Imp...875cc of magnificence ...... %) ....not much room in the boot for luggage  :embarrassed: .....where was the petrol tank?......and where was the fuel filler?

Was it true, that you needed to fully open the rear window to enable the boot lid to be fully opened?  {-)

Never released in OZ was the Hillman Esky Estate version.........looked like a small Hearse but not much room in the back for a coffin, as some dingbat put the engine there

Wonderful little motors, the Imp and its variants, I've had six of them at various times, including a Husky, which was the last one. Most of them had tuned engines, and the Husky ended up with a 990 cc version, it was lots easier to work on than that the standard car, just lift out the boot floor.  :-))

My first Imp had a Rallye Imp fuel tank (in the front of course) and it was a 10 gall tank which filled the original boot space totally!

I worked for the firm that made Imp body shells, Pressed Steel, and we did all the testing for them, including a rig to test those cursed rear window locks. I hate to think how many of them I've fitted and re-fitted in my life.  {:-{

1976 Austin Mini 998cc.  Installed a second fuel tank ( otherside to keep her balanced ) I could run for a few weeks once they had been filled up.   Learned how to truly drive a car....   Keeping revs up, cutting apexs in corners.     Might as well have left a brick on the gas pedal and just work the clutch and oh poop pedal.

Always wished for a 1275

Gosh, I remember, I'm sure it used to cost 99p when I was young. 10 years ago I was paying £.1.65/litre co-inciding with a car only doing 22 to the gallon (Japanese and 2 turbos so cheap fuel only good for granny driving, would struggle to join a motorway safely)  I've just been put on 3 or 4 day working weeks for next 2 months as France announces recession (my source of income). Not that price per bbl has much to do with pump prices but I'm gonna start panicking soon. Is see another 2014 coming for those of us in the industry.

That's OK, but where in Australia are you going to go with the cops stopping you and asking about your journey? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/apr/15/thousands-of-dollars-in-fines-have-been-issued-by-police-clearly-loving-the-freedom-to-penalise-pretty-much-anyone
I can still remember complaining to the pump attendant (remember those?) when the cost of petrol topped 50p/GALLON.

That's right Dave, and I don't have a problem with it. We have been very fortunate here because the federal and state governments acted quickly to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. One of the measures was to severely restrict travel. Queensland closed its border but strangely NSW didn't. This meant that, while we in NSW couldn't go to Queensland without a compelling reason (work, medical appointments etc) Queenslanders could still come to NSW. We live only and hour's drive from Queensland and have some of the best beaches in the world, so people from south east Queensland were flocking here, with the attendant risk of community transmission of the virus. NSW police decided that  this would not be allowed, and warned anyone with a Qld number plate to go home or risk a A$1000 fine. Eventually it was decided that only essential travel would be allowed, shopping, medical etc, and only in your own area. Anyone disobeying the order was fined A$1000. The restrictions have worked, and our infection rate nationally has dropped dramatically from hundreds per day down to single digits. Some saw the measures as draconian, which they may be but, as I said, they have worked, and worked well so far.

Agree 100% with your comments Peter, & support the Commonwealth actions to date however I think the Singaporean model of the Corona-19 mobile telephone APP to track you is fraught with danger & non acceptance by our population

I was stopped buy our  :police:  at lunchtime yesterday....I was on each back road going North from Wollongong

The young Officer was not conducting breath testing but asked for the purpose of my travel......so thinking instead of telling a yarn about just been to my Doctor, I loosened the top button of my shirt & displayed the adhesive electrode disk still attached to the top of my chest..........then mentioned I had just been unplugged <*<

I see the BBC is complaining that NHS workers are having to pay 1.10 pound per litre.   over here it's $0.95 which equates to under 50p.   Someone should start a petition for the UK government to reduce the excise duty

 >>:-( 59p.

Not that I have been allowed out to buy any for over a month. Must try and start the car if only to charge the battery.
