Is there such a thing as a mini motor control to run two small 6 volt motors?


I am about to start a very small model.

Simple answer is yes, there are a few options.


But without knowing your motors, and how small a model etc...


Need a bit more info to get directed to something suitable really.

There are plenty of £5 5amp controllers on ebay. Beware that there are 2 versions of most of them. One with brake and one without. You want the one without as otherwise going from forward to reverse is a 2 stage process with a delay between them. Ideal for cars but not for boats.

Could you clarify the "very small" bit perhaps by saying how small in size and weight the should be as that would sort out if a standard receiver plus two mini size ESCs would do or if you are more likely to need a combined receiver and ESCs all on the same board?  How was the 6V decided - some of the smallest I have built use a 3.7V Lipo stick battery?

Obvious solution is to dismantle a servo, mini motor plus speed controller.

Hi all I have been using these esc's for a couple of years now they are very cheap and work well.

Rc Car Brushed Esc Two Way Motor Speed Controller No Brake For1/16 Boat Tank 10A

I am awaiting delivery of this one but at £2.83 inc p&p!  I  have 3 others 2 in use, size about the same as my end thumb joint, when running a Supermonoperm they are quite cold, although rated 10 amps I reckon up to 4 amps would be a best guess of the equivalent of Chinese amps.  Weigh just a few grams. 

The connections are the 2 pin versions used on receiver batteries.  I bought  5 male and 5 female sets of wires for about a pound.
I would guess that for low currents you would not be needing sub-C cells so high capacity AA batteries are easy to plug into and use.

Hi tr7... I tried this some years ago and there is a very small deadband.  That is finding OFF is not easy.
It can be altered with introducing another capacitor but todays servos have very little room on the cct board.

This did not work for me, because there is no BEC, and the receiver needed more 4.2 volts to operate.

This worked, but the dead band for neutral was so fine, it was difficult to make the motors stay stopped.
One always seemed to be running fwd or rev.

I ended up using a small 10amp Mtroniks. Battery weight is the most difficult issue with miniature RC modeling.

OP didn't seem up for discussing much. Think they were just after yes/no. Will be interesting to see what they come up with when they get the parts. All my new model projects are "small" these days.

I was after just a yes/no answer before I started the boat.


Once I have further details I will ask again.


Unfortunately here in Australia it does take a parcel some time to arrive.


Its two weeks now and I reckon on another two weeks before anything turns up.

These are brushless controllers & I don't see any evidence that they have reverse as they are intended for model aircraft use.
