At the end of last year I bought this Delta Force Annihilator from a mate down the club. He'd got it set up with an RCMK K30R 30cc petrol engine. It'd been set up with some pretty terrible wooden rails which actually hadn't been clearanced for the engine's HT coil housing, so it may have had anti vibration mounts but they certainly weren't doing anything. It also had 'waterproof' servos mounted to the rail, out in the wet, with a piece of polypipe for a receiver box.
My initial plan was to cut the rails to properly accommodate the engine, which I did, then build it a decent radio box with some quality servos in it. I quickly gave up this idea when I realised I could pull the rails out the bottom of the boat. I also had a very tasty Prestwich tuned CMB 91 RS Evo staring at me...
What followed was a complete strip of the boat, sanding back the inside of the hull with an orbital sander to provide a good key for the 3 point mount for the engine, and for four radio box posts. Mounting feet were custom made for the boat by myself on the lathe, then epoxied in with a slight deviation on my normal method - milled carbon fibre filler in epoxy, with carbon cloth to secure it all in place.
The radio box is an Aeromarine glassfibre one, with a Savox 1270TG on rudder, Hitec 5496MH on throttle and 430BH on mixture. Radio is Jeti and is powered by a 7.4v lipo.
After rebuilding it I then removed the engine and box, then sprayed the inside of the hull with 2k green, then the deck and lid with 1k metallic and 2k satin lacquer. I've given up on Halfords terrible paint and am now getting it from DC Paint Solutions near Milton Keynes, their paint is excellent.
When we're all allowed outside again I'll be getting this straight on the lake. The engine is aready set up as it was in another boat of mine, it'll need a little strut setup as it was previously set up for the petrol. It's going to absolutely fly.
