Hi guys, new member here, I've been lurking and reading a few build threads to get some ideas on techniques, etc, there's some amazing builds and hundreds of years experience on this forum so it's been incredibly useful.
I purchased the Graupner Azimut Atlantic Challenger kit from eBay a few months ago and have started the build but it's turned into a complete redesign and rebuild.
The boat had previously been assembled and then stripped back down to a bare hull, almost all the major parts for the build were included. The hull looked like it had taken a few knocks in transportation from the UK to me in Dubai, the bow had several cracks in the glass fibre which had sprung the shape and twisted it slightly, it looked like it had also had a substantial amount of resin applied at some time in its past. My day job is an aircraft engineer so I decided to strip back and re-skin the hull interior with carbon fibre. I then decided to redesign the bulkheads and structure with carbon fibre, you can see where this build will go, I've binned the old school brushed motors and gearbox and will run a brushless setup.
I think at this point I'd better start a build thread so I can post up pictures of the work so far.
