What is it ?
« on: December 09, 2024, 10:21:18 am »

Hello !
A member of my forum thinks that his engine is a Stuart . I have the biggest doubt as Stuart engines are made of cast iron  when the one I show seems machined down.  Moreover the layout and the elements do not look like a Stuart in any way. But I could be wrong and if a scholar on the subject could enlighten me, I would be delighted.
The logo Stuart is not the original one either.
Another fake Stuart ???
Thanks and cheers !

Whilst I do not recognise the engine, people historically used to buy cylinder castings from manufacturers and build the rest of the engine around them. In the early days Stuart did use gunmetal for some cylinders, for example early S50's have gunmetal cylinders. I am not familiar enough with the cylinders to say whether or not they are from Stuart
