Hy Jonjoe,
All I can suggest to you is have plenty of cardboard ready (cornflake packets and the like)., and make loads of templates before cutting any building material. I have found that is the only way I can do things, mind you it still takes me forever to get things right. I hope someone on the forum can come back with something more positive as to how they do things, as I am sure a lot of us have this problem.

Break down the structure into a series of boxes - if you have the deck plans these should show you the top of the box and hopefully the outline of the 'building' between the two decks which will be the sides (convoluted though they may be).

You will probably have deck sheer and camber to cope with as well - which is where all the cardboard comes in...

Cheers

Back in the last century (yes - it was that long ago) scratch builders started out with a Vic Smeed cabin cruiser, with components cut from sheet, no compound curves and no hard bits. They then worked their way up to what Jonjoe is now attempting. I don't want to seem negative, and I applaud him for his efforts, but having had a look at the Kingston Mouldings site, it's not what I'd choose as an initial project.

Having said that, I guess he's committed now, so I would agree with Bosun and Lance.Try to break it down into components. I would look at the structure and see if it could be sliced up into horizontal slices, almost like a bread-and-butter construction. I'd probably build the structure in wood, then face with plasticard.

I do it like this, with balsa wood, then build up the different levels, and cover it with litho plate, but you can use other materials,
