Lutz Heilscher Mini-Steam Plants
« on: July 07, 2008, 10:16:56 am »

Has anyone any experience with Heilscher's twin cylinder mini-steam engine & boiler?

http://www.hielscher-dampfmodelle.de/cms/index.php

I didn't know such small engines existed & am interested in the possibility of using one of these in one of my ironclads, either Manhattan or Tennessee.

Granted it would severely blow my budget for the project, but what the heck.  O0

I don't have direct experience, only some second-hand information that they work well. However, I don't like the looks of that little engine very much. The boiler looks nice though.
By the way, check with the seller what kind of safety valve and connections they have.

It looks as if the "safety valve" and connection is silicone tube.

I've got one of the Hielscher really simply HO rail buggies which is amusing but totally impractical. It seems rather pricey for what it is.

I have a very tiny boiler and oscillator unit, which is very pretty and amusing to see it going but the boiler only holds enough water for about a 5-10 minute run and that is with no load.
