The traffic jam on Blackpool seafront was extraordinarily bad - it took us hours to travel just over a mile!   >>:-(
We've never seen so many  chippies, Kebab shops or slappers out a Saturday night .....er....ever!

Good shop I thought, great venue, very busy! Well done Mark (A Model World) et al!

Great photos already chaps, thanks. Mine to follow as soon as my feet stop burning!

Martin

PS. We're staying Widnes tonight. Couldn't find the hotel so we took the midnight tour of Runcorn and Widnes..... 3 times be fore we fount it... drove past it twice but couldn't find the entrance road!!!

PPS.  Rottweller, found that chippy .... but couldn't park with 10 miles of the place!!!

PPPS. Any of you know the Runcorn bridge? VERY impressive at night!

I once lived practically under the approach road to Runcorn Bridge, on the old dockworkers estate, and it is indeed a most impressive bridge....

Neil,

Brilliant and thanks for your efforts. I really do miss going to shows like this. As for the lady judge, she has obviously never built a model in her life or she would not say such things.. :police: :police: :police:

As for putting them on water, make sure you dry them properly with a microfibre polishing cloth or the drying marks will be over scale and cost you points!  %% %% %%

Neil,

I don't know about the Blackpool show, but when A Model World ran the 'alternative' Ellesmere Port show they certainly were not MPBA judges, as I was asked to join the judging team :embarrassed: - I declined!.

well done Mr Mannering!
Now all you have to do is learn how to steer it (I need the practice too,all we need is a bigger pool (and a bow thruster)

If you think that's bad, we were once told at Chatham that under no circumstances were we allowed to get water on any of the boats. Needless to say, we ignored it.

Neil,  I do hope some of your credit (although very worthy) should be directed to your personal "dusting attendant" which helped the little lady judge to find your models  O0 {-) {-) {-) {-)

WELL DONE RACHAEL!!  :-))      After a quick word with the judge and seeing a pic of your workshop think it made her realise just how pristine they really were.............in comparison!  {-) {-) {-)

Seriously, really nice meeting you Neil and your boats are credit to you, they look even better "in the flesh" so as to speak, Regards, me.

Well  we've just got home!

We went to Blue Planet aquarium today (Ellesmere port), excellent, worth a visit.... but that was after another 3 (Three!) times over
the Runcorn bridge. Yes it's still impressive and with the mist this morning, it looked like it was going straight up to the stars... but  5 times
over the same bridge, in 12 hours is a bit much!

Neither, my satnav, smart phone, wife or the road signs seemed to know how the roads work around Widnes,we  just went round and round
until we just made a guess and headed for the motorway.... after another U turn at the next junction, we we're on the right road to Chester!

..... ahhhhhh. no place like home.... sort of!  ok2

      Show photos to follow....

Thank you pikey, and all for your very kind comments gentlemen..................I realised today, sailing the "big one",in a small pool just how difficult she is to steer in such close confines.................and these boats handle similarly to the old real ones............I have even more admiration for our old lifeboat crews and coxs'n now that I did before......and they were heros one and all, already.

Thanks to everybody for all their efforts in making it such a great show this year, not just my members and the members of Fleetwood who put a huge effort into setting up, but the volunteer judges who put so much time and effort into what is really a thankless task.
I have to agree with Martin about Port Maud - I just wish there was a class to put it in, it really did deserve an "official" prize.
Then of course, there's team Chandler putting on a show to remember, the parade from stand to pool and back, plus the spectacle on the water.  And with a crew of teddy bears to cheer things up.
All we need now is for the pictures to turn up.

Hi Martin........they were on the Lifeboat Enthusiast stand, that we chatted at, on Saturday afternoon.
Two were on the left hand side of Rob's "rocking lifeboat" with the winning boat the left hand one of the two, and one was on the right hand side of it.
